Lined pipe: FEP temperature & selection

The catalogue's FEP-lined pipe spool specification lists service up to 180°C. This is not a universal limit for every PTFE, FEP or PFA-lined assembly, nor a pressure rating at 180°C. Confirm the exact liner, chemical, pressure, vacuum and temperature cycles for the complete pipe spool.

PTFE, FEP and PFA are different liners

A search for PTFE-lined pipe may include several fluoropolymer constructions. Specify the required polymer rather than treating PTFE, FEP and PFA as identical. The current pipe-spool dimensional specification identifies a virgin FEP liner; confirm the chosen construction in the quotation.

Temperature and pressure together

Share normal and maximum temperature, startup excursions, pressure and any vacuum. The catalogue's 180°C service statement must be checked against the assembly's pressure-temperature and vacuum suitability. Class 150 identifies a flange class, not a constant allowable pressure for every temperature.

Bore, length and flange details

The pipe-spool catalogue lists 25–200 mm nominal bore, Schedule 40 carbon steel and Class 150. Send the spool drawing, face-to-face length, flange drilling, orientation and quantity. Confirm liner thickness and dimensional inspection requirements with the supplier.

Chemical exposure and liner integrity

Identify each medium, concentration, contaminants and cleaning chemicals. Permeation, vacuum, thermal cycling and liner support can affect suitability even when resin compatibility is favourable. Agree liner inspection and test requirements for the complete assembly.

Match fittings and valves to the line

Elbows, reducers and lined valves must match bore, flange geometry, liner and process conditions. Check each component's own specification instead of applying the pipe-spool limit to the entire system.
